Large Technic models deserve a good display. Here's how to keep them in top shape.

Choosing a shelf

  • 1:8 supercars like the Ferrari Daytona SP3 42143 are around 50–60 cm long: plan for at least 30 cm of depth.
  • Heavy models (bulldozers, cranes) need a sturdy shelf.

Avoiding dust

Acrylic display cases are the best protection. Otherwise, dust weekly with a soft make-up brush or a camera air blower.

Avoiding sunlight

UV light causes fading, especially on white, red, blue and yellow panels. Keep models out of direct sunlight.

Storing motorised sets

Always remove batteries before storing hubs and battery boxes to prevent corrosion.

Cleaning Technic parts

Wash parts by hand in lukewarm water (below 40°C) with mild soap, then air-dry them. Never wash electronics, motors or stickered parts.

Storing disassembled sets

Keep each set in labelled bags with its instructions. This makes rebuilding (or reselling) much easier.
